There are so many people with good hearts in the world who devote their lives to helping others. One example of a generous person is a volunteer firefighter. There was a car accident in Alabama on Tuesday, and among the responders were some volunteer firefighters. One of those responders didn't get off of the road that day without getting injured.

The 50-year-old firefighter was trying to slow traffic in response to a wreck that occurred on the Alabama roadway. One driver apparently didn't like the idea of being slowed down and made a bold, dangerous move. He sped away from the accident scene while the firefighter was leaning on his vehicle.

Sources report that the initial accident occurred around 2 p.m. It involved an 18-wheeler truck and another car. Fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries in that crash. But what became part of the aftermath of that accident did cause the firefighter some serious pain. His wife reports that she thinks her husband has broken ribs as a result of the careless driver who sped off.

Authorities were able to apprehend the driver after the incident. At this point, no criminal or civil charges have been filed. The focus has been on the victim's recovery and collecting as much evidence and information about the incident as possible.

Depending on what the investigation uncovers and what the victim firefighter wants to do, he could potentially file a personal injury suit against the driver who caused his injuries and left him on the road as he sped away. A successful personal injury suit could help the victim and his family pay for the medical treatment he's needed because of the accident.
