A lawn mower is something that most people who own a home use on a regular basis. It is, therefore, easy to forget that a lawn mower can be a very dangerous tool, given certain circumstances.
There are some workers to whom lawn mowers truly are an everyday tool, putting them in danger of sustaining serious workplace injuries while simply trying to cut grass. One Alabama worker sadly lost his life this month while trying to complete a job in Jefferson County.
According to reports, the victim was employed by a company, the name of which we will keep private here. He was on-the-job and using a riding mower on Aug. 3 when the machine fell down a hill. The worker was crushed by the mower and sadly didn't survive the workplace accident.
Details about this case are limited, and whether there is an investigation into the incident is unknown. It's standard for authorities to investigate any work injury and confirm whether an employer's safety standards were in place at the time of the accident.
Investigations into specific on-the-job injuries are crucial to overall workplace safety. They reveal the necessary information in order to hold an employer accountable for an accident if that accountability is due.
If there is any further information about this specific lawn mower case, we will be sure to post an update. Simple accidents do, unfortunately, happen, but if simple safety precautions could have been taken to prevent the fatal accident, the family of the victim deserves to know that, and so do the other employees of the company.
