Memorial Day Car Accident Kills Four, Injures Five in Greenville

On the day set aside to remember those who have died serving our country, it is especially tragic when a car accident brings about the sudden devastation of injuries and fatalities. At least three Alabama families were affected by Monday's fatal three-car accident near Greenville. Four people died and five more, including three small children, were injured.

The Alabama state troopers investigating the car accident, which took place on Interstate 65 in Butler County, had no immediate information on the cause of the wreck or any specific injuries suffered. The four people who lost their lives were all from one vehicle.

Those killed in the Memorial Day accident included:

  • Driver Jennifer Richardson, 53, of College Park
  • Kelvin Pickering, 15, of Maples, Florida
  • Lorraine Ione Fleming of Snellville
  • Ira Juan Cito Fleming, 69, of St. John, Virgin Islands

The five injured were taken to LV Stabler and Sacred Heart hospitals. The deceased were transported to Hudson Funeral Home in Greenville.

The car accident remains under investigation, so no specific information about its cause was available. However, it is a grim reminder that the heartbreak of an accident can occur at any time. Drive safely.
